BRADY ENDORSES EUGENE DEPASQUALE FOR U.S. CONGRESS: A REFORMER WASHINGTON NEEDS

Washington, D.C. – Today, Brady endorsed Pennsylvania Auditor General Eugene DePasquale to represent Pennsylvania’s 10th District in the United States House of Representatives.

Brady President Kris Brown stated:

Eugene DePasquale is a trusted leader, already having served Pennsylvanians for over 15 years. His work on common-sense solutions, like the Pennsylvania School Safety Task Force, show that he understands that we need community-based solutions that involve all of us in order to bring about real change. When it comes to gun violence, this includes measures supported by bipartisan majorities to help keep our communities safer. Eugene has the reputation of a reformer. We need him to help reform Washington and turn gun violence prevention legislation into law.

As State Auditor, Eugene DePasquale has made gun violence prevention a priority for Pennsylvania, ensuring that, in addition to pursuing new, life-saving policies, current law and regulation is properly enforced and operating. It’s why he announced in 2019 that Pennsylvania would audit its state background check system, the Pennsylvania Instant Check System (PICS), to ensure it is up-to-date and functioning as intended. It will build off of his already-established track record in looking for comprehensive solutions to prevent gun violence, including his 2018 report on community-based solutions to increase gun safety.

“I am honored to receive the Brady endorsement,” said DePasquale. “I look forward to working with Brady in Congress to build partnerships across the aisle to find real common-sense solutions to reduce instances of gun violence.”

Brown reiterated:

Auditor General DePasquale has proven time and again that he will take action to address gun violence – and will do so by searching for community solutions that involve all parties. We need that kind of leadership in Washington. We need Eugene DePasquale.

###

Brady has one powerful mission — to unite all Americans against gun violence. We work across Congress, the courts, and our communities with over 90 grassroots chapters, bringing together young and old, red and blue, and every shade of color to find common ground in common sense. In the spirit of our namesakes Jim and Sarah Brady, we have fought for over 45 years to take action, not sides, and we will not stop until this epidemic ends. It’s in our hands.
